IT’S been a sparkly start to the new year for one shop unit in Dunstable town centre as a jeweller moved in just before Christmas.

Harrisons Jewellers set up shop in the High Street North spot on December 18, bringing an array of necklaces, bracelets, rings and gemstones that have wowed browsing customers.

The shop manager told the Gazette: “People have said ‘thank God you’re here’ and said it is fantastic to see an independent jewellers.”

Before the store opened, the only other jewellers in the town were national chains H.Samuels and F.Hinds.

And the shop is one of few in Bedfordshire to offer the popular Pandora bracelets and charms, which have been an instant hit in Dunstable.

“We can’t get our hands on the Pandora stock quick enough,” said the shop manager.

Harrisons, which is located next to Connells estate agent in the town, also boasts Ice Watches and Fiorelli handbags on the shelves.

“We also do bespoke handmade jewellery to match your budget or design,” said the staff member.

It is not the variety of stock but the traditional ‘customer knows best’ attitude that the workers believe gives the shop its unique selling point.

“We give an old-fashioned customer service,” said the manager.

“We have a good relationship with all our customers.

“When they want a hand we will help and spend the time with them.”

Harrisons was previously known as Morgan Huzzey, which was established in 1932 in Luton. Until December last year the business was based in Chapel Street, but its popularity means the company hopes its loyal customers will continue to use the store.

“We are a proper independent jewellers and all my customers from Luton have said they will come with us, said the shop manager.”
